Freyja and her Cats by Toradh Freyja and her Cats by Toradh
This started off with the plan to do a Freyja portrait and turned into a portarit of my cats pretty soon. Which I don’t mind. It was high time. They’re attention whores and once gnarled my head phones, but heck, as much as I like to complain about them, I wouldn’t want to live without these little jerks anymore. Yep. Her cats look like mine. At least as far as I bothered to try and copy their fur stripes.
Apart from my cats, I also needed some references for Freyja’s face (angle!) and her hands. And the Brisingamen here is based on some pretty impressive jewellry I found in a book on Norse mythology (how convenient!).

Watercolour and instant capucchino. I felt like it. And it turned out to be a pain to apply watercolour on the coffee, but it produced such a nice golden colour. Cat hair obviously also sticks to instant capucchino even more than to watercolour but in this case, I think it's fine.

Gorgeous! I love how you have really captured Freya's expression here, and the colors (yellows, greys) are perfect!

The necklace is practically taken from a real one, referenced from a photograph in a book. I think it fits perfectly :).

Sif (the black cat) might probably allow you to offer her a sacrifice. Thor (the grey one) will probably run off because he’s scared of my door bell. And of visitors in general.
He doesn’t do his namesake much justice, but how could I have known that when I just got them and the vet asked me for their names? :P
…And they’re so cuddly.

Das funktioniert also.

Ooooh. Is so pretty. I love the colours, and after my own blatant failure at it, I'm even more impressed by that you pulled of colour and coffee together!

It was a quite spontaneous decision. "I want it golden… there’s instant capucchino in my kitchen…"
(because I don’t like coffee, but instant coffee is a really nice ingredient for self made Baileys, and I like coffee flavoured sweets, puddings and cake and stuff)

I can’t really recommend it, though, because the capucchino is stickier than the instant coffee Jenny gave us at the workshop, and the watercolours slightly peel off if you paint with them over the coffee. That gave me a little bit of trouble in some parts. I suppose coffee painting and coffee painting can be completely different things. But it was a worthwhile experiment.

It's a painting of the third kind - real cat hair included! ;)

That cappucchino really is a lovely gold. And those cats still look extremely fluffy! I hadn't realised that one of them had placed a paw on Freyja's shoulder in the lineart, but now I noticed, and it's such a lovely detail!

That’s what I thought – "oh don’t bother getting rid of the cat hair, let’s pretend it’s intentional". My cats did not only pose for this one, they also enriched it with their own hair :D.
