This, this… I don’t know. I tried to draw this scene and this fucking hall more than once and failed every time. This is closest I have ever come to making it look halfway bearable. I’m planning to simply drown all the details of the background in ink, I just hope that will work! That bit being said, actually, no, I haven’t planned the colour scheme yet, and if it won’t work out, I suppose I’ll have to find a way to make the background pretty instead. Damn it.
Oh yes in case you’re wondering, this will in any case end up as a personal illustration, so don’t even try to figure out what hall that is and which scene from what story, you’ll fail. But if you think it looks pretty much John Howe-ish, then you’ve correctly guessed where I’ve shamelessly stolen elements.
You could try to point out all the mistakes to me, but as drawing this hall took me way too long already and I’ve developed an unhealthy love-hate-relationship with it over the years, I might choose to ignore your tips and colour it, anyway.
Die Halle finde ich gut, habe aber den Eindruck als sei das gewählte Seitenverhältnis bzw. der Bildausschnitt ein wenig undankbar für die Darstellung - zumindest für reine Lineart. Insofern wird Farbe/Licht/Schatten wohl tatsächlich das sein was da fehlt. Ich bin neugierig wie du's löst.
