The Soil and the Rain by ~Toradh

Description
“And every day she waited for him, like the soil waits for the rain.”
Likewise, I lost count of the hours which went into colouring this. I spent at least two hours only applying light blue and white acrylics for various forms of water. I suck at painting rain. Certain Skálmöld songs were spinning in shameless infinite loops during that period.
Personal artwork. I‘m glad I managed to do some after failing so many times at everything except fanart (and sometimes even at that). This diptych illustrates (of course) my work-in-progress fantasy story, this time with lots of water and llama-free drama. The guy survives, though, don‘t worry (that’s not that much of a spoiler, although it may sound like one).
Music suggestions: Sæglópur by Sigur Rós. Alternatively, Elegy by Leaves’ Eyes, which was the original inspiration yeeears ago.
By the way, there’s a really hideous digital version of the right side image, dating back to 2006: www.cuiascamh.de/galerien/2006…
So I meant to redo this for quite some time now.
I used tons of very lose references, like Scandinavian coastlines. As usual.
Watercolour and acrylics.

EDIT: DD? Uhm, why? And how? Anyway, thank you a lot guys, it's much appreciated! So at least the effort I put into the water seems to show through .
EDIT 2: By the way, did anybody finally find out where I stole the title?

Beautiful, the two parts complement each other well. I like how you painted the waves; water is so difficult to paint. And lovely decorative border inbetween.
