Despite, or maybe precisely because I have much more fond memories of the Neverending Story movie than it deserves, I always wanted to paint something more true to the book. I mean, it says that Fuchur has a lionlike head, and Atréju should have olive-green skin. So have a Fuchur with a lionlike head and green-skinned Atréju. Oh yes, and that’s how they’re spelled in the German original. I refuse to spell them otherwise, thank you for understanding.
Thanks to Jenny’s watercolour workshop, I finally managed to colour this, which makes me happy. Parts of it are really rushed because I was too lazy to render Fuchur’s scales, but had way too much fun to blotch white paint on them, and because I couldn’t quite decide whether I would be able to finish the painting before the workshop ends or not and ending up trying. But I supposed it somehow worked out.
The Neverending Story > everything.
Watercolours, drawing ink and white acrylics, and some references of pearl-coloured scales which I ended up not looking at, anyway.
There is only true music suggestion, although it totally doesn’t fit the specific situation in the picture: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ddz3Bf…
Whoops, it happened again? Thanks for the DD!
Klasse Design und Koloration, gefällt mir sehr gut! (:
Atréju = childhood hero. Though I don't remember the films as vividly as the books.
I like how you made Fuchur both dragon- and lion-like. Rawr.
(I did´nt liked the movie adaptions very much, I red the book first...)
Very well deserved DD!
I love your depiction of them, it is really true to the story! And congrats on your DD!
