Day Becomes Night

Okay, this is PURE practice. [link] and I are working on a webcomic, but as neither of us really has a clue how to colour digitally, all we do these days is practice and try to find an efficient and quick way to do some cel shading. Because we thought (or at least I thought) cel shading would be quicker and easier than "real" digital painting. Well yes, it is, but it's still a pain (which means: you don't want to see my horrible attempts at digital paintings. You just don't want to see).
I tried to use Orpeelin's shading method ([link]). I'm obviously far from being as good as she is, but I'm willing to learn. I hope. Uhm.
We'll do the webcomic nevertheless. Yep, we'll do.

And YES I KNOW the lineart has issues, let's call it pure colouring practice, 'kay?

So this is a really random illustration. It's actually based on a photograph shot by any of my classmates back at our class trip to London in 2007. Ever since I liked the composition and the lighting, so I imitated it. I also used a very lose lose reference for the sky (shot by my own dad in Sweden) so I wouldn't have to do too much detailling on the characters in front to make it even more dramatic.
